New laws for all drinking water suppliers

In October 2018 new provisions under the Public Health Act 2010 and Public Health Regulation 2012 came into effect. The provisions clarify mandatory requirements that all suppliers of drinking water in NSW (LWUs, private water suppliers and water carters) must:
- develop and implement a quality assurance program
- keep records of water supply, and
- provide a copy of their quality assurance program to their local Public Health Unit.
Penalties apply if these obligations are not met.
